**Music from Scripture — Isaiah 2:17–18 (KJV)**

“The LORD Alone Shall Be” is based on Isaiah 2:17–18\. These verses turn our attention away from the pride and exaltation of man and back to the LORD alone.

> “And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. And the idols he shall utterly abolish.”
>
> **Isaiah 2:17–18 (KJV)**

## About the Song

“The LORD Alone Shall Be” puts the words of Isaiah 2:17–18 to music.

The passage presents a simple but powerful contrast: the loftiness and haughtiness of man are brought low, while the LORD alone is exalted. What man exalts will not remain exalted before God.

The repetition of **“the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day”** becomes the center of the song, allowing the words of Scripture to remain in the mind even after the music ends.

## Lyrics

And the loftiness of man
Shall be bowed down
And the haughtiness of men
Shall be made low

And the LORD alone
Shall be exalted
In that day
And the LORD alone
Shall be exalted
In that day

And the idols he shall
Utterly abolish
And the idols he shall
Utterly abolish

And the loftiness of man
Shall be bowed down
And the haughtiness of men
Shall be made low

And the LORD alone
Shall be exalted
In that day
And the LORD alone
Shall be exalted
In that day

And the idols he shall
Utterly abolish
